Why Couples Choose Big Oak

Your Wedding. Your Way.

Our couples do not simply rent a space for a few hours. They slow down, stay and celebrate together with family and friends, and become part of the legacy of a place that has been welcoming families for generations.

Bring the caterer, photographer, and vendors you love, or allow us to do the heavy lifting for you! Other venues provide many restrictions on timing and what you can and cannot do. Couples choose Big Oak because they can have their wedding just the way they want it.

A Real Historic Barn

This isn't a wedding venue made to look historic. It actually is. Unlike many modern venues designed to look rustic, Big Oak's original hand-hewn beams and floors were crafted from timber milled right here on the property.

Stay Together

The 1892 Manor House sleeps 10 of your closest family and friends. Our riverfront sister property with historic yet modernized log-and-chink cabins is just 10-minutes away and accommodates up to 24 guests.

A Whole Wedding Weekend

No rushing your first look, dinner, or final dance. Friday arrival, set up, and rehearsal. Saturday celebration without rushing. Sunday farewell brunch and hugs.

One day weddings also available.

One Property. Endless Experiences.

A private ranch estate with horses, cattle, rolling fields, mountain views, fire pits, indoor/outdoor ceremony and reception options, climate-controlled barn, and endless photo opportunities.

Our Legacy

Long before Big Oak Manor & Ranch became a place where new love stories begin, this land was home to generations of hardworking Virginia farm families. The original hand-hewn timber bank barn, believed to date back to the late 1700s or early 1800s, was built from trees harvested directly from the property and crafted by hand using traditional techniques of the era. For more than two centuries, its massive beams have sheltered livestock, stored harvests, and witnessed the changing seasons across the surrounding countryside. The historic 1892 Manor House, along with its original and separate kitchen and smokehouse buildings, represents a later chapter in the property's story—one of growth, prosperity, and enduring stewardship. Today, this remarkable land continues its farming roots and has been lovingly preserved, allowing couples to celebrate their own beginnings surrounded by the craftsmanship, character, and history of generations past.
